Winner of Melton Mowbray Food Festival competition announced

Richard Rush from Melton Mowbray has been announced as the winner of the annual Melton Mowbray Food Festival competition to win a luxury hamper.

Richard completed a feedback form at this year’s Festival in October and his name was drawn at random from a record number of entrants.

Richard joined the thousands of people who visited this year’s Festival. Plans are already underway for next year’s event that will be held from 1-2 October 2016.

Matthew O’Callaghan, organiser of the Melton Mowbray Food Festival said: “We’re delighted that someone from Melton won the hamper, especially as Richard is a regular visitor to our events.

“This year saw an almost 10 per cent increase in visitor numbers, a number coming from all over the country and for the first time coaches from as far afield as Yorkshire and Essex. Many exhibitors reported increased sales on last year and are wanting to book early for next year.

“We are also very grateful to both Tesco and Lidl’s community teams who supported the event. The Food Festival is one of Melton’s main events and one which supports our reputation nationally as the Rural Capital of Food,” Matthew added.

The Festival is organised by the Melton Mowbray Food Partnership with support from Samworth Brothers, NFU Mutual, Bouverie Lodge and Melton Borough Council.
