Leicester hosts successful UKinbound Annual Convention

Around 200 delegates from UK’s leading tourism trade organisations attended from 11-13 February 2015.

Leicester has successfully hosted the latest in a number of national conventions to be secured by Leicester Shire Promotions for the city and county. The UKinbound Annual Convention was attended by around 200 delegates from the UK’s tourism industry from 11-13 February 2015.

UKinboundThe Leicester and Leicestershire Conference Bureau, managed by Leicester Shire Promotions, secured the convention for the city and supported UKinbound with the delivery of the event including co-ordination and hosting of the familiarisation visits. Local partners involved in the delivery of the event included Mercure Leicester The Grand Hotel, National Space Centre, Athena, Ramada Encore and Holiday Inn Leicester City.

At the convention, key industry figures and high profile speakers joined UKinbound for a series of debates, workshops and networking opportunities. Delegates rounded off the convention with history and heritage, and food and drink-themed familiarisation visits across Leicester and Leicestershire.

UKinbound represents over 300 tourism businesses and is the only one that focuses solely on the interests of the UK's inbound tourism sector. Members include inbound tour operators, wholesalers and Destination Management Companies, hoteliers and other accommodation providers, attractions, retailers, restaurateurs, transport providers and other suppliers who provide services for inbound tourists to the UK, both leisure and business travellers.
