Leicester and Leicestershire showcased to national group travel organisers

Leading national group travel organisers visited Leicester and Leicestershire from 12-13 September for a tour of some of the local highlights for group travel visitors.

The trip, organised and hosted by Leicester Shire Promotions, included visits to Leicester Cathedral, King Richard III Visitor Centre, Bosworth Battlefield, Curve, National Space Centre and Great Central Railway.

Visitors from national group travel organisers and coach tour operators attended the familiarisation trip including Wooburn Outings, Lordship Leisure Groups, Unison Retired Members, Marston Greenagers Group, T&T Holidays, Ashton SOROP, Fletchers Coaches, Roadrunner, Cascade Social Group and Venture Holidays.

The trip was supported by Group Leisure magazine, Ramada Encore hotel and participating venues.

Lorna Cosgrove from Cascade Tours said: “The visit was all very informative with so many favourite parts. It's hard to decide what was the best but the King Richard III Visitor Centre was very impressive.”

Martin Peters, Chief Executive of Leicester Shire Promotions added: “The group travel market is a key sector for the local visitor economy. By providing national organisers with the opportunity to sample some of the highlights of the group travel offer, we are confident that we will raise the profile of the destination and continue to attract national groups to visit the city and county.”
