A new Leicestershire Quality Charter has been launched to provide tourism businesses in Leicester and Leicestershire with an official marque to assure visitors, guests and customers of the quality of their venues.

Leicester Shire Promotions has developed the Leicestershire Quality Charter to provide a quality marque for visitors to the destination. This Charter focuses on businesses with a commitment to promoting the destination, guest welcome, customer satisfaction, quality and standards, information provision, accessibility, adhering to legal requirements and sustainability.

The award-winning Charnwood Museum in Loughborough is one of the first tourism venues to sign up to the new Quality Charter. The museum is owned by Charnwood Borough Council.

Martin Peters, Chief Executive of Leicester Shire Promotions added: “People like to be assured that the place they’re visiting will provide them with a quality experience – whether it’s an accommodation provider, attraction, museum, restaurant or other. This new Quality Charter is an official recognition of each tourism venue’s commitment to delivering a quality visitor experience.”

Cllr Stephen Hampson, Charnwood Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture, said: “We are delighted to sign Charnwood Museum up to the Quality Charter as is shows our continuing commitment to offering a high standard destination for tourists and residents. “If you haven’t been for a while, then I would strongly urge you to pop along and see what there is to offer. We also welcome any feedback to help us improve the visitor experience.”

Charnwood Museum was long listed in the Sunday Telegraph’s Family Friendly Museum Award and received a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence in 2014. It was also highly commended in in the Leicester and Leicestershire Excellence in Tourism Awards.
