New Initiative to promote tourism in Harborough

A new tourism website has been launched to promote Harborough to leisure and business visitors. Explore Harborough has been developed by Harborough District Council and Leicester Shire Promotions to grow the tourism economy in the Harborough district.

The website at offers a programme of short break offers with accommodation providers and attractions in the district. Plans for further activity and developments include developing the group travel market and packages around Whittle and Wycliffe, based in Lutterworth.

As part of a major drive to boost tourism in the Harborough district, Graham Peers was recently recruited as the new, dedicated Tourism Executive for the district. Graham is responsible for working collaboratively with local tourism businesses, encouraging the take-up of tourism services and opportunities, and supporting these businesses to help to improve their performance and the experience that they offer to visitors.

Leader of Harborough District Council Blake Pain said: "This new website showcases the fantastic attractions, events and tourist hotspots in the Harborough district and I hope it brings more people here to enjoy what we have to offer. A lot of hard work has gone into this website. Although led by the council, it is a great example of organisations working together to boost the district, its businesses and local economy."

Martin Peters, Chief Executive of Leicester Shire Promotions added: “Harborough is regularly featured in the national press as one of the top places to live in the UK and this partnership will help to focus the promotion of the district to visitors.

“There are many great places to visit, events and festivals to enjoy, places to stay as well as fantastic, locally-produced food and drink. The new Explore Harborough website will help local businesses to maximise the experience for visitors when they get here and to promote the offer to a wider potential audience,” continued Martin.
