Who will eat all of the pies at this year's PieFest?

The glorious art of traditional pie-making in the UK will be celebrated as PieFest returns to the East Midlands in July 2018.

This year’s PieFest event will be held in Melton Mowbray from 28-29 July and visitors will enjoy all things pie-related, including sampling, buying, eating and even learning how to make their own pies.

A number of the UK’s awarding-winning pie makers will be at the event selling their pies including past Supreme Champions of the British Pie Awards. PieFest will also include talks, tastings, demonstrations and workshops on how to make the perfect pie. There will also be a Pie Kitchen where visitors can eat hot pies – baked to perfection with a choice of mash, mushy peas, gravy, vegetables and a variety of accompaniments.

The Pie Theatre programme includes talks on A History of Pies, How to Rate a Pie, Raising a Melton Mowbray Pork Pie and a ‘Pie Panel’ where visitors can put their pie and pastry queries to an expert panel of cooks and pie makers. There will also be cheese, beer, cakes, wine, chutneys, cider and more, plus entertainment.

From being the home of the classic Melton Mowbray Pork Pie to hosting the annual British Pie Awards, Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire is regarded as the UK ‘Capital of Pies’. PieFest will run from 10am to 4pm on the weekend of 28-29 July 2018 at Melton Mowbray Market, Leicestershire LE13 1JY. All of the stands are undercover.

Admission is £4, in advance (£5 on the gate) and children under 16 free. To book tickets and for more information, please visit www.ukpiefest.co.uk

Matthew O’Callaghan from the Melton Mowbray Food Partnership, organiser of PieFest 2018 said: “PieFest returns to Melton Mowbray in July to celebrate all that’s great about British pie making. There will be almost ever flavour that you can think of, both sweet and savoury, from the iconic Melton Mowbray pork pies, meat and fish, through to vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options.”
