Corn Exchange

Melton Carnegie Museum

Nottingham Street,
Melton Mowbray,
LE13 1NW

Next to Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe is the Corn Exchange, opened in August 1855 after building started only the year before. Local businessmen helped with its construction, the clock-tower bell donated by two surgeons. The sale of corn moved from Cornhill to here and the building contained space for a bank, a library and County and Magistrates courts. Only the frontage now remains with a shopping centre to its rear.
