The Leicestershire and Rutland Heritage Forum is an umbrella body for all museums and heritage organisations in the counties of Leicestershire and Rutland and the city of Leicester.

Mission Statement

The Leicestershire & Rutland Heritage Forum exists to support museums and heritage organisations in Leicestershire and Rutland to achieve the highest standards and deliver the best possible services to their communities.

It does this by:

Facilitating partnership working between members and with other organisations;
Maintaining strategic links with relevant public, private and charitable bodies;
Enabling members to share information, skills and experience;
Advocating for the work of its members;
Celebrating achievements and successes. 

Key Aims

The Leicestershire & Rutland Heritage Forum aims to support member organisations by:

  • Improving the operations and visitor experience of organisations by providing regular opportunities for information and ideas exchange
  • Avoiding isolation and repetition in the sector by expanding and maintaining heritage networks
  • Developing individual skills levels within the heritage sector by offering specialist training, peer group learning and mentoring
  • Maintaining the profile of the heritage sector through advocacy to stakeholders and funders
