Tea in the Tower | Edible Forest Festival

This September the annual Edible Forest Festival returns to the ancient woodland of Charnwood Forest and this year we’ve got even more great events for you to savour.

Between Saturday 7th – Sunday 15th September, there’ll be a smorgasbord of tasty food and drink events for you to enjoy including afternoon tea in the iconic Old John Tower, Bradgate Park, dining under the stars in one of our unique dining pods, Safari Supper around Charnwood’s finest pubs and another outstanding Secret Gourmet evening with Michelin star holder, Chef John Duffin.

There’s lots of new events this year and extra helpings of those events you loved last time. There are limited tickets for all of our events and they sell out quickly, so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Old John in Bradgate Park

7th, 8th, 13th, 14th September 2019

One of the favourites of the festival is afternoon tea in the iconic Old John in Bradgate Park. Enjoy delicious home made produce whilst enjoying the spectacular views over from this amazing vantage point. 

Edible Forest Festival brewery tour

10th, 12th, 14th September

Discover the art of traditional monastic brewing at the UK’s only Trappist brewery. Mount Saint Bernard, founded in 1835, has just opened what is one of only twelve Trappist breweries in the world. One of the monks will propose a guided tour of the plant, which is operated exclusively by the community. The tour will end with a beer tasting.

Walk with a ranger at Bradgate Park
11th & 14th September 2019

Build up an appetite with an early morning ranger-led tour around Bradgate Park where you will learn all about the edible produce that can be found within the park. After the walk you can tuck into a well-deserved, hearty breakfast made up of tasty local produce.
Where will the 2019 Secret Goumet experience take place?
15th September 2019

Enjoy a gastronomic experience not to be forgotten with a forest inspired menu created by Michelin star holder, Chef John Duffin. The Secret Gourmet unique forest location will remain a secret until days before the event and you can be sure it’ll be somewhere amazing and totally unexpected.
Dine under the stars during the Edible Forest Festival

7th - 14th September 2019

Our unique dining pods make a welcome return to the festival for a second year. Set in ancient woodland at Abbots Oak Manor, diners can enjoy an intimate picnic of tasty local produce in one of our pods or enjoy dinner whilst watching the evening stars. Menus now availble to view.

Anstey Ale Brewery

11th September 2019

We’re delighted to welcome Charnwood Cider to the Festival, they’ll be offering a brewery tour and cider and ale tasting session at their new home, the Mash and Press in Anstey. You can find out how this delectable local produce is created from Rob and his team and find out which of the many ciders and ales created are your favourite.

Get on board the Safari Supper bus

12th September 2019

Hop on our vintage Midland Red bus and dine around the forest, enjoying a different course of wonderful local forest food at some of the best pubs in Charnwood, exploring the ancient forest on your way.

Edible Forest Festival

15th September

For one day only the Edible Forest goes vegan! Enjoy our fabulous Tea in the Tower experience or our Picnic Pod with a wholly vegan menu.

Scone tasting

7th September

Join us in  the extraordinary surroundings of the forest's own arts and crafts house Stoneywell Cottage. We simply couldn't resist bringing their famous scone making skills into the Festival.  You will get to sample a selection of up to 10 different sweet and savoury scone recipes. After your scone feast you are free to enjoy the beautiful grounds and house as your ticket includes entrance to both.


12th September

A fantastic new event for 2019 - let our very own big cheese, Tim Brown guide you through a selection of the region's finest cheeses.  Each cheese will be paired by an appropriate drink which could be wine, beer or cordials.  Tim will be on hand to explain each of the cheeses and why they have been paired with each drink.
