Access for All

We want everyone to enjoy their visit to Leicester and Leicestershire.  We make every effort to make it accessible and welcoming to visitors with a disability or with restricted mobility.

Leicestershire lies at the heart of England in the East Midlands. With excellent road, rail and air links, it is easy to reach from all parts of the UK.  

 

Travel by car

Leicester is 2 hours by car from London, 1 hour from Birmingham and 2 hours from Manchester. The M1 passes through Leicestershire, with junctions 20-24 providing good access to the county. The M69 and M6 also offer easy access from Birmingham, Wales and the South West. Car parking spaces for visitors with disabled blue badges can be found in all NCP car parks and in other areas in Leicester - see more information provided by Leicester City Council.

Travelling by Train

Leicester is on the East Midlands Trains line from London St. Pancras to South Yorkshire. Direct trains from London take 75 minutes. Market Harborough, Loughborough, Melton Mowbray and Hinckley all have railway stations. The nearest station to Ashby de la Zouch is Loughborough. If you are a wheelchair user or need assistance when travelling by train you should book your rail journey at least 24 horus in advance.  Please contact East Midlands Trains Accessibilty Service  for full details of travel assistance, availability of ramps and WCs. 

 

Travelling by Coach

National Express offer national coach services to Leicester. London to Leicester takes just under 3 hours. Ashby de la Zouch, Coalville, Kegworth, Market Harborough, Loughborough and East Midlands Airport are also served by National Express.  If you are a wheelchair user or need assistance when travelling by coach, National Express advise you to book your coach journey at least 24 hours in advance.  Please contact National Express for information on access - 08717 818179 or text phone for customers who are deaf or hard of hearing 0121 455 0086.

 

Travelling by Air

Visitors travelling to and from East Midlands Airport and Leicester can take the direct Leicester Skylink bus, getting you there in less than an hour. The service operates hourly, 24 hours 7 days a week.  Family return tickets are available for up to five people, maximum two adults. For further information visit www.skylink.co.uk.
