Help us protect the environment and support our local community

- Keep informed - attend local guided walks, go on country walks, use the Tourist Information Centre and guides on the local area.
- Use public transport where possible during your visit. Use walking and cycling routes
- Leicestershire has beautiful countryside please help us preserve it. Keep to public rights of way, read notices and signs, and follow the countryside code. Be careful with matches, cigarettes and barbecues; uncontrolled fires destroy wildlife
- Help us improve our countryside. Show your support by planting a tree at the National Forest. For more information please click here
- Reuse: try and re use plastic bags or use cotton bags which can be used again. Cotton bags are available to purchase at the Tourist Information Centre
- Reduce: Try to conserve water and energy for example remember to switch the lights off when you leave your room and not to leave any taps running.
- Recycle: If you are staying in self catering accommodation during your visit try and use local recycling facilities. Your accommodation provider should be able to advise you on this.
- Help support local shops and services: purchase locally produced goods and use local markets and farmers markets
- Eat locally and support local food suppliers. For more information on places to eat and where to purchase locally produced food contact the Tourist Information Centre.
