Access Statement
Transport and location:
Location: Leicester Visitor Centre is located in the city centre of Leicester in Town Hall Square within easy reach from bus and train stations and close to all the city's amenities.

Car-parking facilities:
Currently there are no parking facilities on site. However a loading bay is located just outside our main entrance. NCP car parks are within easy reach, with the closest car park located just a 10 minute walk away (Newark Street Car Park). On street pay and display public parking is also located within walking distance of the centre.

Public transport provision:
Leicester's Visitor Centre is located within walking distance from the two city bus stations and very close to the train station. Bus stops can be reached on foot and most are only a 5 minute walk away. Public transport information is also made available to visitors.

Delivery of provisions:
A loading bay allowing free parking immediately out of our main entrance allows for short term parking
Every Street is currently accessed via the one way ystem in operation within most of the city centre as it is located close to the pedestrian areas in place.  The nearest Shop Mobility Scheme operates at the
Highcross shopping centre which has on site parking.  Directions to the centre are available to all visitors on request.

Main entrance/reception facilities:
Our opening times are:
Monday to Friday 10am to 5.30pm,
  Saturday: 10am to 5pm
and closed on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

Our opening hours and alternative provisions are displayed in our out of hours board just next to our main entrance. There are no steps at our main entrance and a very small ramp is in place as our entrance is practically on street level and automatic doors are in operation. The floor areas within the centre are also at one level.  Our reception/ welcome desk is on low level to improve accessibility for people with restricted height and /or wheelchair users and a small seating area is also available. There is a loop system installed for deaf and hard of hearing people.  All areas are well lit and all entrances and passage ways are wide enough for wheelchairs, zimmer frames and pushchairs

Other Public areas:
Unfortunately we cannot provide an accessible toilet within the Leicester Visitor Centre. The nearest public toilet facilities are located within Leicester Market which is a few yards away and directions can be given upon request.

Our operation and welcome areas are all in one level.  Assistance dogs are welcome and information in large print is also available to visitors upon request.  There is good colour contrast to the floor, walls and
doorways and different operational areas are easily recognisable.

Retail area:
There is seating in our main operational area as our retail space is limited.  Information about merchandise and prices is provided in a clear manner as all items are priced individually.
Special offers are communicated clearly with signs and stickers and staff members are always happy to provide assistance.

Other:
Our team has been trained on disability awareness under the ‘Welcome All' scheme. Most mobile networks are available as we are located in the city centre of Leicester.  Unfortunately a public phone is not available in our premises.

Additional information can be sourced through our website, by contacting us via email and through our
contact line. We publish all those details on out of hours boards, our website and our guides. Additional
and more specific enquiries are being handled by staff members during your visit to our centre.
