Radisson hosts a wonderful winter wedding

03/05/2012

The first ever wedding at the new luxury Radisson Blu hotel at East Midlands Airport was a wonderful winter spectacle complete with reindeers, opera singers and even a surprise early visit from Santa.

Bride Laura Kenney (27) and the groom Daniel Barnes (27), from Toton, celebrated their marriage at the £22m hotel on Friday 23 December with 150 of their family and friends.

Laura booked her wedding at the hotel in July while it was still under construction and is delighted at both the finished result and the service from the Radisson team.

She said: "It was just a shell when we first had a look round so my worst thought was that it might not be finished. However, we were invited back several times and the team kept us updated all the way through. I love the modern contemporary style of the finished hotel.

"The team led by David Clark, the wedding planner, has been fantastic so I had complete peace of mind that I'd made the right choice. I'm thrilled that I can hold my wedding in a beautiful venue that's easy for my guests to reach but is also totally new for all of them too."

Laura and Daniel got married at their local church but future prospective couples will be able to hold their ceremony at the hotel as well as it has just been awarded its wedding licence.

The happy couple stayed in a complimentary Honeymoon Suite complete with the special finishing touches to make the experience truly memorable - champagne, fruit platter and breakfast in bed. The suite is air conditioned with mini-bar, en-suite bathroom with shower and separate bath, Nespresso coffee machine, large flat screen TV and free films.

The new Radisson Blu hotel at East Midlands Airport is shaping up as the most sophisticated and elegant wedding venue in the region, capable of catering for everything from lavish 400-guest wedding banquets to intimate friends-and-family-only celebrations.

From an overall function space of 750sqm, the luxurious hotel is kitted out with a flexible system that allows the walls to be moved to create tailor-made, ambient rooms to fit every occasion, whatever the size.

But finding the right venue is just the start so a dedicated wedding planner is on hand to ensure a perfect day - planning the meal, choosing the best wines, setting the table and seating arrangements, lighting, cake stand and much more. Every wedding reception is overseen by a master of ceremonies to keep the evening running smoothly, including the evening's entertainment.

Wedding guests can enjoy the fantastic facilities that are all part of the service when staying at this four-star standard ‘Design Hotel' with 218 luxurious and comfortable rooms - including an presidential suite, three executive suites and six junior suites - a restaurant and bar serving international cuisine plus a coffee bar and free internet access.

Then there is the hotel's gym with all the latest equipment, plus a swimming pool and spa facilities - with a variety of treatments available for relaxation - as well as 24-hour room service and a guest laundry service.

And, when the celebrations are over and it's time to be homeward bound, guests will find the hotel ideally connected for trains, planes and automobiles. East Midlands International Airport is a mere 800 meters away while Junction 24 of the M1 is on the doorstep and there are superb rail links in nearby Nottingham and Derby which can be easily reached by the Skylink bus service or by taxi. Breakfast is served from 3am so that even the earliest of risers can stock up for the journey ahead.

Radisson Blu Hotels & Resorts currently operates more than 30 hotels in the UK and the new hotel at East Midlands Airport offers a range of wedding and celebration packages available at www.radissonblu.co.uk.
