Oxjam Leicester Music Festival - there's an app for that
03/05/2012
Taking place in the city's Cultural Quarter on Saturday 22 October, Oxjam Leicester is one of a number of music festivals taking place in the UK to raise money and awareness for Oxfam.
The Leicester festival has built up a strong reputation as one of the nation's most successful Oxjam events, breaking records last year by raising £25,000 for the charity.
With that in mind, event organisers wanted to make this year's event even better, so have taken it up a notch by creating the festival's very own app for iPhones and Androids.
The app acts as a mobile hub of information that will help attendees navigate the multi-venue festival and make the most of the event.
Created by Leicester-based digital agency Cite, the app provides users with the festival line-up, information on the venues and artists, a map and travel information, and ticket purchasing information.
Cite's Managing Director, Dafydd Prichard, said: "Mobile apps are a great way to provide easily accessible information to people on the go.
"The Oxjam app will help market the festival and will also improve people's experience during the day. The Cite team are especially excited about this app as we'll be able to put our own work to use when we attend the Oxjam event."
It is available free for download from the iTunes App Store and the Android Market.
Oxjam Leicester will see music ranging from indie to punk, bhangra to reggae, dub to club taking over the city streets, along with market stalls, kids zone and youth stage.
With less than a month to go, tickets are already selling fast. They are available online at wegottickets.com or at participating venues, visit www.oxjamleicester.co.uk for more details.
