New tour guides for Leicestershire wanted
03/05/2012
The self-led training includes local history and how to develop and conduct tours. Training will be spread over five months and will be a combination of on-line, practical and expert led sessions. Practical sessions will be held at weekends. Training for each guide costs £500 and some bursaries may be available.
Training will concentrate on specific geographical areas of the county and once the training is complete, each guide will specialise in their own areas such as food and drink in Melton Mowbray, for example.
Martin Peters, Chief Executive of Leicester Shire Promotions commented: "We need enthusiastic individuals who have an interest in the destination and its history, possess good people skills and have a welcoming and friendly attitude. Once the training is complete, you will become a certified self employed guide, working closely with the Leicester Visitor Information Centre to promote and sell your tours."
Please contact Stephanie Johnson at Leicester Shire Promotions on 0116 225 4073 or email Stephanie.johnson@l-p-l.com for further information and details on how to apply. The closing date for applications is 9 December 2011.
