Latest phase of smartphone app for visitors to Leicestershire available to download

03/05/2012

Leicester Shire Promotions has completed the second phase of the development for its smartphone app for visitors to Leicester and Leicestershire. The latest release of the free app covers arts and culture in the city, and the food and drink offering the city and county.

The first phase - the Leicester History and Heritage app - has been available to download since October 2011 for free from Apple's App Store for users of iPhones, iPads and iTouch devices. It features information on 38 historical venues across Leicester, recommendations for half-day and full-day trails for visitors, and a ‘Locate me' interactive map to direct the user to the closest historical venue.

To download the app, follow the link from the home page of www.goleicestershire.com  or download it for free by searching for 'Go Leicestershire' in the iTunes App Store.

Work is now underway on the next development phase to extend the app into a destination-wide guide for locals and visitors. Further developments will also include versions for other smartphone, android and tablet devices.

The app was developed by Leicester Shire Promotions in conjunction with Leicester-based technology company, Cuttlefish.
