Bruntingthorpe restaurant gets special award in Michelin guide

03/05/2012

The Joiners Arms at Bruntingthorpe has been included in this year's Michelin Red Guide for the 8th year in succession with the added bonus of receiving the prestigious Bib Gourmand for the first time.

There are just 117 restaurants in the UK with the Bib Gourmand award, and just 2 in Leicestershire. Bib Gourmands are awarded to establishments that offer good food at a moderate price - £28 for three courses excluding drinks.

Chef patron Stephen Fitzpatrick is delighted to once again be included in the guide and is thrilled to have been awarded the Bib Gourmand "As a team we are extremely pleased to retain our inclusion in the guide and are delighted that The Joiners Arms service and food has been recognised with this prestigious award as our standards and consistency are important to us. Chefs Tina Major and Gary Mercer work extremely hard and strive to impress at every opportunity".

Michelin editor Rebecca Burr said ‘This is a good news story and confirms our view that pubs serving good food are the ones that continue to thrive.'

Stephen Fitzpatrick has owned and cooked at the Joiners Arms since 2002 and is also the owner of successful Leicester City restaurant The Boot Room.
