Details

Welcome to Melton Mowbray, rural capital of food and drink, famous for Melton Mowbray Pork Pies and Stilton Cheese.

This heritage trail will show you a thousand years of history including the places and people that made the town what it is today. You can explore parkland, visit cafes, buy cheese or pork pies and visit Melton Carnegie Museum which features excellent exhibitions on the history of Melton Mowbray and the surrounding area.

The trail begins and ends in the town centre and can be started at any point. It will take approximately an hour and a half to walk around the trail but allow a morning or afternoon if you wish to stop and explore the museum and St Mary's Church and perhaps enjoy a cup of tea and a home baked cake at one of the many teashops en route.

There is lots more to do in the Melton area, visit www.goleicestershire.com/meltonheritagetrail to find out more and to take a look at our fantastic short breaks.
