Melton Mowbray,

The yellow building on the corner of King Street and St Mary's Way is one of the oldest buildings in Melton Mowbray and was inhabited by the Mowbray family. Tree-ring dating carried out on the roof structure dated the building to the 1330s.

One of the most notable members of the Mowbray family was William de Mowbray. His deeds include helping to raise money for the ransom of King Richard I and being signatory to the Magna Carta, which laid out baronial rights against King John. The crest of the de Mowbray family was the Lion Rampant, now used by the Melton Mowbray Town Estate.

Walk down King Street into the Market Place and you will find trail board 4 to your right.
