Details

Nevill Holt Opera has creates sensational opera at a stunning summer festival. The NHO Festival attracts sell-out audiences from across the whole of the UK to its annual summer opera festival. NHO has been staging critically acclaimed shows at its stunning Leicestershire home since 2013.

The 2017 festival production is Puccini’s Tosca. Tosca's desperate and ruthless passion in a time of political turmoil has held audiences in its spell since it was first performed. With unforgettably beautiful music and a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat, join us for a heart-racing night of love, passion and betrayal.

Nevill Holt Opera is delighted to announce that Royal Opera House Director of Opera Oliver Mears will return to NHO to direct this production, originally created in Derry/Londonderry for his debut at Northern Ireland Opera in 2011.

Trust in young talent:
A festival that 'trusts in young talent' (The Times) NHO casts young singers, offering them invaluable early professional experience, and a stepping stone to the wider profession. The NHO Theatre provides a unique and intimate space in which to hear future opera stars up close.

Gardens and Sculpture:
With breath-taking panoramic views over three counties, the Nevill Holt estate dates back to the 13th Century. Our beautiful 17th Century Stable Block Theatre is set in historic grounds, lanscaped by Chelsea Gold Medal winner Rupert Golby.

The grounds of Nevill Holt are home to an outstanding collection of modern British sculpture, featuring works by Antony Gormley, Allen Jones, Marc Quinn, Nic Fiddian Green and Sean Henry, among others.

Education and Community programme:
NHO believes that music can change lives. Our Education and Community Programme, created in partnership with music and education specialists, seeks to answer the needs of its local community. To date we have reached over 1000 children in the local area, with the help of our sponsors and supporters. Since 2014, our children's chorus has been drawn from Malcolm Arnold Academy, Northampton - a school in which no choirs previously existed. For many of these children, NHO is a stunning introduction to live classical music.
