LAUNCH OF LAST EVER DISCOVER LEICESTER TOUR

Popular sightseeing bus tour returns to the city for final time, highlighting major regeneration projects including the opening of Highcross Leicester

This summer will mark the final opportunity residents and visitors will have to explore the local area from a truly unique perspective - the iconic Discover Leicester open top tour bus. A special photo opportunity to celebrate the launch of the Discover Leicester Tour 2008 will take place on Saturday 12 July 2008 on Humberstone Gate (outside Marks and Spencer), Leicester at 11:30am. The bus will be present along with organisers and sponsors of this year's Discover Leicester Tour.

Complete with insightful on-board commentary, the Discover Leicester Tour 2008 takes in the inspiring views and ever-changing surroundings of the city of Leicester and will visit some of the areas most popular attractions along the way. The tour represents an ideal day out for both visitors to, and residents of Leicester and Leicestershire wanting to see a city in transformation.

This year's tour will run from 12 July to 27 September. It is timed to coincide with the launch of the new £350 million Highcross Leicester retail and leisure development on 4 September and will celebrate the completion of the first phase of major projects in the city's £3 billion regeneration programme.  The tour, which is sponsored by the National Space Centre, Great Central Railway, Dominoes toys and the Highcross Leicester-supported One Rhythm Dance Festival, will visit Leicester's transformed areas and many of the city's key attractions including New Walk Museum & Art Gallery, the Jewry Wall Museum, Belgrave Road, Belgrave Hall & Gardens, Great Central Railway, National Space Centre and Abbey Park.

Tickets on the bus cost £7 for adults, £5 for children, £16 for a family, with under fives travelling free. Advance tickets at reduced rates can be purchased from Leicester Tourist Information Centre in Town Hall Square, Leicester (Tel: 0116 299 4444) or the Ashby Tourist Information on North Street, Ashby de la Zouch (01530 411 767). Discounted advanced tickets can also be purchased on the eShop facility at www.goleicestershire.com

Free travel on the Discover Leicester Tour is available for concessionary bus pass holders - saving up to £7 per trip. Advanced concessionary tickets can be purchased from the Leicester or Ashby Tourist Information Centre.
