When searches made between 1st to 5th May were compared to searches made during the previous week (24th to 28th April), travel interest increased by 277 per cent for a hotel stay during the upcoming weekend (6th to 8th May). Leicester will receive the trophy after their final home game against Everton on Saturday 7th. The average stay duration of searches made during the last five days is one night.

In addition to the last-minute increase in travel interest, hotel searches for all future travel to Leicester have also increased by 195 per cent. When searches made during the past five days (1st to 5th May) were compared to searches made during the previous week (24th to 28th April) for a hotel stay any time after Sunday 8th May, an increase of 195 per cent was found.

Denise Bartlett, Communications UK & Ireland: “With much buzz surrounding Leicester’s inconceivable Premier League victory, it is unsurprising to see a last-minute surge in hotel searches to the city. The average stay duration of one night suggests that fans have either managed to obtain last-minute tickets, or simply want to soak up the atmosphere and celebrate. The increase in travel interest for a hotel stay in the future, however, suggests that Leicester’s tourism industry may be able to experience more long-term benefits from the media exposure.”
