VisitEngland & VisitBritain roundtable events on challenges of rural tourism
As you may know, the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee has launched in inquiry into rural tourism in England. They want to consider a number of issues including increasing the number of visitors, protecting the natural environment and how public funding can be best used to support rural businesses and the rural visitor economy. You can find more information about the inquiry here.
VisitEngland and VisitBritain have been asked to submit evidence to this inquiry and see this as an important opportunity to highlight the challenges rural tourism is facing. We are therefore holding three round table events in August, in different parts of the country, to gather views and evidence from relevant stakeholders. We would like to ask for your views to help inform our response.
There will also be an opportunity to hear from our digital content team and the latest on the Discover England Fund.
We would like to invite you to join us on one of the following dates and locations. Please do pass the invitation on to colleagues or other contacts who may find the event of interest.
Wednesday 10 August – Cambridge – 11:00am – 15:30pm
Thursday 11 August – Leeds – 11:00am – 15:30pm
Thursday 18 August – Exeter – 11:00am – 15:30pm
Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org with your chosen location and date.
We apologise that August is not an ideal time to hold an event like this, but the Committee has asked for written submissions by the 6th of September.
