Record-breaking half-term at National Space Centre
Research over the period showed that over 19% of those visitors stayed in local hotels and those on day visits from outside the county travelled, on average, over 2 hours to visit the Centre and the city, so supporting the local tourism economy further.
The Centre worked with Leicester City Council to offer an alternative parking option to visitors, as the 400 spaces available on site were in high demand. The Park and Ride service from Birstall added a stop for visitors to be able to easily park and travel by bus to the Centre.
This additional service will continue and support not only the National Space Centre, but also the growing business area, including Dock, the new workspace and business development centre for knowledge economy businesses situated next door to the iconic visitor attraction.
