Family activities at Conkers for bank holiday weekend

CONKERS, the award-winning visitor attraction at the heart of The National Forest, has lined up a range of family fun outdoor activities for the May Day Weekend from 2-4 May and an Activity Weekend from 9-10 May.

Visitors will have plenty of fun activities from which to choose including ranger arts and crafts, bushcrafts, watersports and outdoor pursuits.

At the May Day Bank Holiday Weekend from Saturday 2nd to Monday 4th May, visitors can come and see Flip the Clown perform his circus skills in the covered amphitheatre from 11:30am to 4:00pm (Monday 4th May). From 11:00am - 4:00pm, from Saturday 2nd to Monday 4th May, families can come and take part in a Ranger Craft Activity and make king and queen masks. Bushcrafts will also be available with the Ranger team at 10:30am, 12:00 noon, 1:30pm, and 3:00pm.

At the exciting Activity Weekend from Saturday 9th to Sunday 10th May, CONKERS’ Forest Rangers will host a range of outdoor pursuits and watersports for all the family to enjoy including:

• Kata canoeing – a fun based activity where you have to manoeuvre a twin canoe whilst working in harmony with your family and friends. Minimum age 8+, maximum 6 people per Kata canoe. All buoyancy aids and safety equipment supplied

• Archery – are you the new Robin Hood? Professional tuition to learn how to use these fantastic re-curve bows. Minimum age 8+, full tuition given

• Go Karting – you and your family pedal round the course in a relay competing against the others until you cross the finish line, suitable for adults and children

• Mountain Bike Trails – follow the leader on a trail of excitement around the beautiful scenery of The National Forest. Not a challenging ride however you must be able to ride a cycle. Helmets supplied

On both Saturday and Sunday CONKERS will also be hosting sensory art classes with the ranger team. This will be running all day along with summertime craft activity. Sessions are: 10:30am – 11:15am, 11:30am – 12:15pm, 12:30pm – 1:15pm, 1:30pm – 2:15pm, 2:30pm – 3:15pm and 3:30pm – 4:15pm. All of the activities are included within the general admission ticket.
