New family short break for visitors to Stratford and Warwick

A new family short break has been launched to celebrate the range of visitor attractions and experiences in the home of William Shakespeare. Stay Play Explore Warwickshire offers a choice of three from 11 top-class visitor attractions in Stratford and Warwick, plus one night's accommodation with breakfast in a local 4 star hotel for just £185 for a family of four.

The Stay Play Explore Warwickshire break has been developed by Leicestershire Promotions and Shakespeare’s England.

Royal Shakespeare Company
There’s plenty to see at do for all the family at the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon. Learn the secrets and stories from 100 years of theatre-making in Stratford-upon-Avon at the brand new exhibition, The Play’s The Thing. See Shakespeare’s home town from a different perspective from the top of the Tower.

Shakespeare's Birthplace
Stand where genius was born. The childhood home of William Shakespeare is a very special place that everyone should set foot in at least once in their lives. Famous Beyond Words – our introductory exhibition exploring the extraordinary story of William Shakespeare, the boy from Stratford-upon-Avon who became a household name all over the world. Costumed guides will show you around the house, talk about the family's colourful history and answer all your questions. Our resident actors will bring your favourite Shakespearian characters to life.

Hall's Croft
Home of Shakespeare’s daughter. Admire the elegant Jacobean home of Susanna and her wealthy physician husband, Dr John Hall. With the help and direction of house guides, take in the exquisite carved furniture, paintings, and apothecary’s equipment, all creating a fascinating showcase of 17th-century affluence and comfort. Relax in the tranquil walled gardens and see the medicinal herbs as used by Dr Hall in his remedies.

Stratford Butterfly Farm
Walk amongst some of the world’s most beautiful and colourful butterflies in a unique rainforest environment of tropical blossom, splashing waterfalls and fish-filled pools. In the Discovery Zone observe the amazing lifecycle of a butterfly, within the emerging case you may even see a butterfly hatch from its pupa! Minibeast Metropolis is teeming with life and home to a variety of wonderful creatures and an amazing leafcutter ant colony, one of the largest on display in the UK!

British Motor Museum
Home to the world’s largest collection of historic British cars, from the very first Land Rover to Lady Penelope’s FAB1. Family fun whatever the weather! Experience the sights, sounds and stories of the British motor industry. Dedicated zones on Motorsport, Design & Concepts, Jaguar, Land Rover and film cars. Over 400 cars to discover, interactive exhibits, family activities, outdoor play area, cafe and extensive programme of motoring events.

Shakespeare's New Place
Shakespeare’s grand family home. The site of William Shakespeare’s grand family home has been transformed into a contemporary heritage landmark where visitors can connect with the playwright on the very ground where he lived for almost 20 years. Sculptures conjure up the world that influenced Shakespeare, and his enduring influence in our world today. Wander into the restored sunken Tudor Knot Garden, and the Great Garden beyond, with its sweeping lawns, herbaceous borders, and famous mulberry trees.

Anne Hathaway's Cottage
Family home of Shakespeare’s wife. Discover where the young William Shakespeare courted his future bride at the most romantic of the Shakespeare Houses set in rural Shottery. This is a thatched Tudor gem nestling in nine acres of grounds including the award-winning cottage gardens and heritage orchards. Stroll along the woodland walk, listen to Shakespearian verse in the sonnet arbour and tour the cottage itself that still has some original family furniture. Guides conduct you through the 600 year-old interior and tell the famous Hathaway/Shakespeare love story.

The MAD Museum
The quirky attraction, located in the centre of Stratford upon Avon, houses around 60 interactive weird and wonderful machines and is the UK’s only mechanical art attraction. Think of a mixture between Wallace and Gromit, Heath Robinson and Scrapheap Challenge. The hands-on hideaway combines inspirational creativity, witty design and engineering ingenuity. The pieces on display have all been sourced from creators around the world, and nearly everything is interactive, meaning kids (and big kids!) can get stuck in.

Mary Arden's Farm
This was the family home of Shakespeare's mother Mary Arden. Step back in time with the sights, sounds and smells of a real working Tudor farm. Meet costumed residents as they go about their daily tasks of cooking, tending crops and feeding the rare breed animals. Discover how people lived and worked according to the farming calendar. Watch falconry displays, explore the countryside and nature trails, and get ‘hands-on’ with rural crafts and traditional pastimes.

Shakespeare's Schoolroom & Guildhall
Discover where William Shakespeare was educated and inspired to become the world's greatest playwright. Sit in the room he sat as a pupil and experience the space where he first watched performances by the greatest actors of the day. Participate in a Tudor Schoolroom lesson and brush up on your Latin! The town’s Guildhall, home to a series of rare medieval wall paintings, provides a history of the building and over 400 years of civic history.

Wroxall Abbey Hotel
Wroxall Abbey Hotel is steeped in many centuries of history and set within an unrivalled location in the beautiful Warwickshire countryside.
