International flavour to Melton Mowbray Food Festival this weekend

Visitors to the Melton Mowbray Food Festival this weekend can sample a wide range of local and regional delicacies, as well as international foods from Poland, India, Germany, Russia, Italy, Greece, Morocco and Africa, amongst others.

Now in its 12th year, the event is held at the Cattle Market in Melton Mowbray from 3-4 October 2015 and is one of the UK's largest regional food festivals with over 150 stands to browse.

As usual, there will be the local, traditional Melton Mowbray Pork Pies and Stilton Cheese but there will also be a range of delicious foods on show such as delectable artisan cheeses, gold-infused bubbly, steamed puddings, gourmet British game, locally-brewed ales and many more, from the region and beyond.

The global offering will include Alpine catering; Polish cakes, bread and pastries; Indian food; German salami; Russian bakery products; Italian risotto balls; and street food from Morocco, Greece and Africa, to name but a few.

Celebrity chefs, regional cooks, bakers and bread makers including Rachel Green, Linda Hewett, Stephen Hallam and Jo Pratt will be demonstrating a range of recipes in the Festival theatre. A family food and fun area will keep the kids entertained as well as teaching them about food in a fun and interactive way, including new for this year, the 'Indian Experience'.

The Festival is organised by the Melton Mowbray Food Partnership with support from Samworth Brothers, NFU Mutual, Bouverie Lodge and Melton Borough Council.

Tickets are priced at £6 on the day or £5 in advance from online or in person from Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe in Melton Mowbray. Children under 16 go free. For more details on the Festival, visit
