Explore city museums with passport scheme
From 1 July, visitors to any of the city’s museums will be able to pick up a free passport that will help them discover some of the fascinating items in the museums' collections and spot some of the quirky architectural features of Leicester's historic museum buildings.
At the end of each visit, museum staff will put a special stamp in visitors’ passports. As soon as passport-holders have visited at least four of the city’s museums – and collected four stamps – they will receive a free goody bag.
Assistant city mayor for culture, leisure and sport Cllr Piara Singh Clair said: “Our museums are the perfect destination for family days out during the long school holidays.
“I hope that our museum passport scheme will encourage families to explore all of our museums and heritage venues this summer – and perhaps help them discover a new favourite place to visit.”
The museum passport scheme runs from 1 July until 31 August.
Passports can be collected from Abbey Pumping Station, Newarke Houses Museum, New Walk Museum & Art Gallery, the Guildhall, Jewry Wall Museum and Belgrave Hall & Gardens.
People collecting at least four stamps from four different Leicester museums will receive a goody bag that includes a two-for-one voucher.
The voucher will entitle the holder to buy two tickets for the price of one at the following special events at Leicester’s museums:
Seaside Special Steam Day: 6 September - Abbey Pumping Station
The Belgrave Hall Good Food Fair: 26-27 September - Belgrave Hall & Gardens
Wallace's Wonders: 27 September - New Walk Museum
Ghouls and Ghosts Halloween children’s day: 20 October - Abbey Pumping Station
Horrors at the Haunted Hall: 22 October - The Guildhall
