Come face-to-face with wildlife in an ‘Animal Encounter’ at Twycross Zoo
How do you feed the world’s tallest animal, the giraffe?
Find out how with an Animal Encounter experience at Twycross Zoo, which, for the first time, is offering visitors the chance to feed its giraffes.
Animal Encounters are an exciting way to learn about some of the Zoo’s most popular animals, by getting up close and feeding them.
The zoo’s three male giraffes, Epesi, Setanta and Brad, arrived at Twycross a year ago and have proven a hit with visitors. However, if you fancy feeding some of the zoo’s smaller but no less charismatic animals, you can choose to feed the penguins, otters or meerkats.
Feeding sessions last approximately 30 minutes and include:
• Admission to the zoo for the day for between 4-5 people
• Gift pack including a certificate, badge, animal fact sheet, cuddly toy and £10 voucher (one per party) to spend at the Zoo
• 20% off catering and retail on the day of the visit
• Opportunity to learn about your chosen species and ask questions of the keepers
There is plenty more to experience whilst you are at the zoo. Enjoy additional immersive experiences in the Butterfly House, at Lorikeet Landing and in the Lemur Walkthrough. Don your swimsuit at the largest wet play site in Leicestershire. Spot the zoo’s latest arrivals, including a baby bonobo - yet to be named – and his young friend Ndeko. And visit the new £2million Gibbon Forest, one of the largest gibbon complexes in Europe.
Sharon Leeson, Director of Marketing says, “Animal Encounters are a fun and unique way of getting close to some of the zoo’s most popular animals and learning more about them. But they are also important because they help support our work to save endangered species, as funds raised are re-invested into wildlife conservation here at the zoo and on our international projects.”
