Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre
Compared to the same period in 2014, there was a seven-fold increase in the number of paying visitors - with almost 10,000 people travelling to the heritage site.
More than 2,500 people attended the service to honour the memory of Richard III on Sunday, 22 March and, in subsequent days, around 7,000 people visited Bosworth for sold-out events including special talks, tours to Fenn Lane Farm – where Richard is believed to have died in battle – guided walks and falconry displays.
Franne Wills, from the county council, said: “We were really delighted with the fantastic numbers of visitors who came to the site and they’ll be a lot for them to see over the Easter period and in the run-up to our re-enactment weekend in August.”
Easter events include exhibitions in the award-winning heritage centre, costumed guided walks, talks on arms and armour and falconry displays.
Tickets for the re-enactment anniversary weekend on August 22 and 23 this year are also available to buy now at 30 per cent discount until April 12.
