Attractive Market Harborough is a lovely place for shopping, with its unique specialist shops and stylish boutiques. Enjoy a stroll around the pleasant town centre, with its intriguing 17th century timber grammar school on stilts.
Lutterworth lies west of Market Harborough and is famous for being the place where Frank Whittle invented the jet engine. The town’s museum tells this story. More aviation links can be found at nearby Stanford Hall, a grand 17th century house on the banks of the River Avon. Percy Pilcher experimented with an early flying machine here and there is a replica on display.
You’d naturally expect such a place to be over-run with visitors. But that’s reassuringly not the case in Market Harborough and Lutterworth.
