 About Leicester Shire Promotions

Leicester Shire Promotions is the Destination Management Organisation (DMO) responsible for promoting Leicester and Leicestershire to visitors. It was formed in July 2003 and is a private, not-for-profit company. Leicester Shire Promotions is a partnership between Leicester City Council, Leicestershire County Council and East Midlands Tourism.

The organisation's activities are based on a co-ordinated place marketing strategy. This focuses on:

  • Destination leadership and coordination
  • Attracting visitors
  • Developing services for visitors
  • Providing services to the tourism industry

Corporate Vision

Leicester Shire Promotions aspires to be recognised as a leading Destination Management Organisation, delivering innovation, creativity and results that are seen by its peers to be leading edge.

The company is geared towards the achievement of this by focusing on three areas:

Martin Peters, Chief Executive of Leicester Shire Promotions

Martin Peters

Martin is Managing Director and Chief Executive of Leicester Shire Promotions Ltd and has been with the company since its inception in 1993. Martin has over 20 years experience in tourism and place marketing. Having worked for both the public and private sectors, Martin recognises the advantages and challenges of both.

On a national level, Martin is a former Chairman and Director of the British Association of Conference Destinations and the steering group of the British Cities Marketing Board. Martin also sits on the board of the newly formed strategic tourism agency for the East Midlands. Locally, Martin has managed marketing campaigns and activity both domestically and internationally to virtually all market segments.
