Built by William the Conqueror, Rockingham was a royal fortress for 450 years. Home to the Saunders Watson family. Set in a panoramic location with views over five counties, the Castle has magnificently furnished rooms of several periods, and is surrounded by 18 acres of superbly contrasting gardens including a beautiful Room Garden created by Chelsea Gold Medal Winner Robert Myers.
Excellent lunches, home made teas light refreshments are available at the Castle.

Fair disabled access, gravel driveway, ramps can be provided to the house, where all rooms except one are on the ground floor. Walkers House tea rooms are open throughout the season.

20th April to end of May - Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays.
June to 30th September - Tuesdays, Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays.

Opening hours 12pm-5pm, grounds open at 12pm, Castle at 1pm.


House & Garden: Adults £9.50, Children (5 - 16) £5.50. There is no charge for children aged 4 and under. Family Ticket (2+2) £24.50.
Grounds Only: Including Salvins Tower, Gardens, Gift Shop, Licensed Tea Room. Adult or Child £5.50. Not available when special events take place in the grounds.

Access Statement Information for visitors to Rockingham Castle with disabilities We have made great efforts to ensure that we can cater for disabled visitors at Rockingham Castle. We welcome comments from visitors as to how we might improve our service. Parking The parking area for our disabled visitors is located immediately outside the Norman Towers which form the entrance to the Castle. On arrival at the Ticket Office you will be provided.
