Explore Blaby

Blaby covers an area south and west of Leicester, including the villages of Blaby, Narborough and Kirby Muxloe.

Stroll around the village of Blaby, much of which has been designated a conservation area. Nearby at Glen Parva you can enjoy a walking trail around the remains of an old Saxon settlement, or follow The River Soar and Grand Union Canal all the way into the heart of Leicester city centre, whilst remaining surrounded by green parkland.

Further west at Kirby Muxloe, discover the 15th century castle, which was never completed. William Lord Hastings began it in 1480, but he was beheaded for treason by Richard III before it was finished. The castle is currently closed, but you can still see it from The Castle pub next door.

In the southern part of the district, Stoney Cove near the village of Stoney Stanton is a popular place for diving. A working quarry until 1958, it is now one of the main places in the UK for scuba diving, with a depth of over 30 metres. Beneath the surface lies a submarine and the UK's largest inland shipwreck.
