Pies

29-30 July 2017

The British love pies. We eat around £1 billion worth of pies a year in all shapes and sizes; hot and cold, sweet and savoury. Our pies date at least to the 14th Century when Chaucer wrote about them. They were called coffyns in those days because of their shape.

Many of the UK’s best pie makers, including supreme champions of the British Pie Awards, will be attending PieFest this summer. This great celebration of the country’s favourite food will take place in Melton Mowbray, the UK’s Capital of Pies.

Visitors will be able to taste pies hot and cold, sweet and savoury, traditional and new as well as buy other products such as cheese, cakes, wine, cider etc. For those who want to learn more there will be talks and tastings as well as demonstrations on how to make that perfect pie. It’s all under cover just in case summer turns out to be a little wet this year.

Admission is £4, children under 16s free.  Tickets available on the gate.

Venue: Melton Mowbray Cattle Market, LE13 1JY
