Parking

Disabled Badge holders must display their badge in the relevant position in accordance with the Blue Badge Scheme. Parking is free for the first 3 hours but for parking over 3 hours a pay and display ticket must be purchased.

Shopmobility is a scheme for people who have limited mobility. This includes elderly or disabled people right through to those with temporary mobility problems due to illness or an accident. The scheme aims to provide a welcoming, efficient and easy to use service for members and visitors. The scheme provides the loan of electric and manual wheelchairs and scooters and walkers to enable access to shops, business and places of interest in Melton Mowbray Town centre

The scheme is open 9am to 3.00pm on Tuesdays and 9.30am to 1.30pm on Friday and Saturdays.

  • Register for Shopmobility

All users must be registered before using Shopmobility. To join, new users need to complete a registration form and provide 2 forms of identification. The whole registration process only takes about 15 minutes. A member of staff will then help choose the most suitable equipment and demonstrate how to use it safely. The annual joining fee is £5.00 per year. Arrange a visit to enrol as a member of the scheme by contacting the Shopmobility Office on:

Coach Parking

Coach Parking can be found at Wilton Road car park. There are 9 designated coach bays plus overspill parking for another 3 coaches. We offer a free Meet & Greet Service on Tuesdays during the months of April through to October, but the service can be pre-booked on alternative days by contacting the town centre managers or calling 01664 502335.


Motorhome Parking

A motorhome and trailer must be parked within no more than two parking bays. A ticket must be purchased for both bays and displayed in the windscreen of the vehicle.

Toilets

The town centre provides Standard Accessible public toilets which can be found at St Mary’s Way car park and Wilton Road car park.


These toilets have full facilities for disabled persons and those with ambulant needs. A radar key enables access to the disabled toilets outside of the normal opening times Both toilets are attended during opening hours and a charge of 30p is made for adult use. No charge is made for children under the age of 16. Baby changing facilities are provided at each site.

The public toilets are often open outside normal opening times when community events such as the Melton Country Fair, Melton Mowbray Show, the Victorian Christmas Fayre and the Christmas lights switch-on take place in the town.

Changing Places toilet facilities

People with profound and multiple learning disabilities cannot use standard accessible toilets. Standard accessible toilets do not provide changing benches or hoists. A Changing Places toilet facility can be found in the Melton Carnegie Museum and is open during museum opening times and at Melton Mowbray Mencap & Gateway.
