Loogbarooga Festival - Incredible Illustrations, Brilliant Books

Loogabarooga Festival - 18-23 October 2018

Loogabarooga
We are delighted to welcome the fourth annual Loogabarooga Festival to our wonderful town of Loughborough.

Dennis

This year, the Festival is celebrating 80 years of the iconic comic The Beano and is honoured to host an Exhibition of Comic Art by John Patrick Reynolds at the Charnwood Museum.

We are pleased to showcase local and nationally renowned authors, storytellers and illustrators, whose work gives Loogabarooga its unique and charming character and we’re thrilled to have the support of local businesses, who have thrown themselves into the Festival with enthusiasm and imagination.

Pick up your copy of this year's fun Town Trail or download it here.  Visit each of the locations on the map and find the answers to each of the questions at different venues around the town centre.  You could win high street vouchers worth up to £150, kindly donated by Loughborough Building Society.

Our Festival Den is back!  We have lots of events taking place in our marquee that is located beside the Charnwood Museum cafe, in Queen's Park.

Take a look at the wide range of events taking place at this year's Festival and buy your tickets online here.

Wicked Young Writer Award

The Awards were created by the producers of WICKED in 2010, in collaboration with Michael Morpurgo and the National Literacy Trust - to recognise excellence in writing, encourage creativity and develop writing talent in young people. Over 25,000 young people have entered the Awards since they began in 2010, with 2018 seeing the fastest growing level of entries to date. Over 600 primary and secondary schools and colleges entered this year’s Awards from all over the UK . As in previous years, entrants can enter one of five different age categories; 5-7, 8-10, 11-14, 15-17, 18-25. In addition, the 2019 Awards see the fourth year of the FOR GOOD Award for Non-Fiction, encouraging 15-25 year olds to write essays or articles that recognise the positive impact that people can have on each other, their communities and the world we live in. The WICKED FOR GOOD programme supports the charitable causes at the heart of the stage musical.
