The 2017 Loogabarooga Festival is just a week away

This year the festival is delighted to welcome Waterstones Children's Laureate, Lauren Child.  The opening day, Wednesday 18th October is jam-packed with exciting Lauren Child themed activities, including Lauren Child live at Loughborough Town Hall and parties for all you little Charlie and Lolas out there!

These are just a few of the many highlights at Loogabarooga 2017.  We're also supporting new talent through workshops and have lots of great interactive illustrators and authors, events and workshops to ignite and inspire young imaginations.

Enter our fabulous competitions – Best Charlie and Lola costume (18th October), Loogabarooga Dog Show (22nd October) and the Loogabarooga Town Trail. 'I Can Only Draw Worms' Talk

Loughborough Town Hall

If you thought that drawing worms was easy, think again. Will Mabbitt shows you how he created his lates picture book.  He'll also be reading from a couple of his books and for a finale will attemp the impossible 'drawing something that isn't a work'.

Friday 20th October

Loughborough Town Hall

It's ‘Bring in a Pet Day’ and Finnegan, Floss, Peanut and Sprat are looking forward to telling each other about their pets, but Sprat can't find Shadow, his little black cat, anywhere. Join award-winning author, Philip Ardagh & rising star author & illustrator, Elissa Elwick for an hour of puppets, storytelling, drawing, silliness and FUN!

David Shelton

Dave Shelton 'The Accidental Author'
Friday 20th October

Loughborough Library

Leicester-born Dave Shelton never really set out to be an author.  But somewhere along the way he wrote a children's fable, 'A Boy and a Bear in a Boat', and a book of ghost stories, Thirteen Chairs, as well as creating the comic strip Good Dog, Bad Dog.

Find out where it all went wrong in this entertaining talk.

Outside the Box

Box art

Artist Laura Sorvala invites you to join her in creating an illustration that collects and draws acts of solidarity and kindness that individuals have experienced in their everyday life.

Outside the Box is a project in which people are asked to share their stories  and by  them into a colourful cardboard box sculpture, reminding us of empathy that crosses borders and of the power of small, positive actions. Laura will be in the Carillon Court shopping centre, just outside WH Smiths, on Tuesday 24 October and will be working with passers by to draw on their personal experiences turning them into a colourful narrative display.
