Visit Hinckley and Bosworth, Leicestershire

The market towns of Hinckley and Market Bosworth are surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside and picturesque villages.

Bosworth throne

Many of the villages have interesting stories to tell, one of the most famous being the Battle of Bosworth at Sutton Cheney where King Richard III lost his life. The award winning Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre, just south of Market Bosworth is a major tourist attraction which tells the story of how the last Plantagenet King fought for his crown and lost his life. Each year there is a re-enactment of the Battle of Bosworth when thousands of people visit to see jousting, living history villages and characters from the time of King Richard III.

Market Bosworth is a traditional market town where regular markets are still held every Wednesday in the market square. It’s the perfect place to spend a few hours perusing the selection of independent gift shops, galleries and boutiques, tearooms and bistros in the town centre or watch boats go by while enjoying a snack at Sutton Wharf.

To the south west of the county is Hinckley, home to the world famous Triumph Motorcycles and the Hansom Cab.

Hinckley has a good range of independent shops and popular high street names plus smaller specialist shops and boutiques. Hinckley’s historic market takes place three times a week in the market place with a farmer's market on the third Thursday of every month.
